I totally loved Rescue Me, and adore Denis Leary !
I liked what was done for his original character premise, being haunted by the ghosts of the fire fatalities that he could not save - how the group appeared as hallucinations at various times and places. It was a brilliant device to illustrate his inner self-torture. They pretty much faded out the fire ghosts in the 2nd season, to focus on recurring visits from the ghost of his cousin Jimmy, FDNY, who died in 9/11 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
